Coming to the dreamy Hue , besides the system of temples and tombs, the Phu Van Lau flagpole has become a typical symbol of Hue heritage associated with the history of national liberation struggle.

The Flagpole of Hue is often called the people of the ancient capital of Hue called Phu Van Lau flagpole (because it is right behind Phu Van Lau - Hue). Hue flagpole lies in a relatively large architecture, including two parts: the flag tower and the flagpole. The tower is made of bricks, consisting of 3 floors like 3 dead-end pyramids stacked with a total height of 17.5 meters. It was built in 1807. On the surface of the radio, there were two guard posts and four artillery guns to accommodate four cannons.

There are balustrades built around each floor, the base of each floor is tiled with Bat Trang tiles . The path from the lower floor to the top floor is visible on the north side. In Thieu Tri 6 (1846), Hue Flagpole was replaced by a wooden pole over 32 meters long. By the year Thanh Thai 16 (1904), Hue flag pole was blown up by a big storm, so it was later changed to cast iron pipe. In 1947, when the French troops recaptured Hue , the Hue flagpole was again shot down by artillery. In 1948, the Hue flagpole with reinforced concrete with a total height of 37 meters was found to be newly built.

During the Nguyen Dynasty, all festivals, adoration, and traveling to the issue of newspapers were flagged. At the top of the flagpole is also an observation post called Vong Dau . From time to time, the guards had to climb to Vou Dau using observation glasses on the coast.

Along with the ups and downs of Hue , Hue Flagpole is the place to witness many important historical events. On August 23, 1945, the first flag of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam fluttered to the top of Ky Dai, signaling the end of the monarchy. The Hue flagpole is not only a central location of Hue City but also a symbol of the ancient capital of the city.
